9.  Zaragoza - Lleida – Fiestas de Pilar
The first trip will take you a little bit more far away from Barcelona and to another province! Right on the way to Zaragoza you should make a pause and visit Lleida, which is one of the oldest cities in Catalonia and has a fantastic baroque Cathedral also called „Seu Vella“. For the sporty people I can recommend to climb up the tower, because on the top you have an amazing view all over Lleida and Catalonia!

From Lleida you arrive very soon in Zaragoza, where you should not miss to see the Arabic Palace „Aljafería“. It is a fantastic combination of Arabic and Christian elements with a wonderful garden! One of my favorite trips was the one to Cadaqués, a beautiful sleepy village with pretty white houses and a special mediterrean feeling! It was also an important place for art for example for Dalí and other famous painters and artists. Madrid is the most touristic city of Spain, has a modern infrastructure but also offers a look and feeling of many of its historic neighborhoods and streets! And it is also famous for its museums, history and the lifestyle!

Only 70 km away from Madrid lies another interesting city: Toledo! Because of its extensive cultural and monumental heritage the UNESCO declared it as a World Heritage Site! It has a lot of things to offer!

Girona is a very romantic and antique city which has a beautiful ancient cathedral and narrow streets! And as it is only two hours away from Barcelona, definitely worth visiting it!

Also recommendable is Púbol, which is very close to Girona and where you should visit the Castle of Dalí with it's beautiful garden and the famous Cadillac!

13.  The Mountain of Montserrat
It is a mountain chain very close to Barcelona and offers everything for lovers of natures, hiking and great views! You can take the bus until it leaves you in front of the impressive monastery, which houses the Holy Virgin. It is recommendable to take the funicular up nearly to the top of the moutains. From there on you have different hiking trails to the top or just through the impressive valley down to the monastery. If you want to enjoy an exceptional view and a great landscape, then visit Montserrat!!

14.  Los Pireneos – Besalú and Castellfollit de la Roca
Besalú and Castellfollit de la Roca are two small towns close to France in the north of Catalonia. Besalú has a beautiful medieval city center and has a important jewish past with lots of great old building like the medieval bridge, which is the biggest and most beautiful one in Catalonia!

Castellfollit de la Roca is situated in the province of Girona very close to Besalú. It lies on an impressive high basalt cliff, which make this small village an interesting point to visit! There you can also visit for example a museum of „embutidos“, a Spanish specialty, and taste the Spanish „Chorizo“ or „butifarra“.
